Default Driving your car in through the borders?

Hi brothers & sisters
Firstly id like to congradulate the people behind this website, definately the first of its kind (that i know of anyway at least).
This is my first post and maybe the question has been answered before but i havent been able to find the answer through my brief search here.

Can someone tell me what the laws and legislations are regarding driving your car through the indian bangladeshi from abroad rather than have it shipped in the traditional methods. the idea was raised by my brother in law about taking a BMW X5 on road trip across across europe and asia from UK by road to reach bangladesh for the purpose of avoiding the extortionist tax on imported cars. The idea is definately worth contemplating even just for the adventure value of the journey but what im more at loss about is regulatory side if such practice in bangladesh. would the owner of the car still be liable to pay the same rates as import or is this a definate loophole?

anyone with knowledge of the law please come forth and share your thoughts.

Thats what i thought too, however my brother in law said that he knew some people from his area (Birmingham) who took some cars that way and they had been able to find some kind of loophole that didnt require them to pay the tax. Unfortunately he wasnt able to elaborate exactly how that was possible or what those people had to do, i was wondering maybe someone here might have the answer.
